The Victorian Branch recently held its annual Illawarra calf show, combining once again with the Guernsey breed at the Kyabram show ground for a show, post-show BBQ and games. The judge was Sarah Tilburg of First Class Illawarras, Newly Victoria.
Our junior and senior handler classes were once again sponsored by Agrigene. The winner of this year’s junior handler went to Darby McClaren, while Sarah Lloyd was successful in placing first in the senior class. Winners received a calf rug supplied by Agrigene and all participants received a satchel bag also supplied by Agrigene.
For her junior champion Sarah selected the Hayes family entry of Llandovery Jettas Laurel with the Tuhan family winning reserve junior champion with their entry Riversleigh Pingerly Joan, a daughter of successful Illawarra sire Treeton Pingelly.
For her senior champion Sarah selected the winner of the yearling class Riversleigh Birchall Jean 26, also entered by the Tuhan family . This year’s reserve senior champion was won by a heifer bred by the Hayes family and exhibited by Doug Tuhan. She was Llandovery Empires Eva a daughter of the highly-regarded sire, Llandovery Jinnys Empire.
The Agrigene’s most successful exhibitor award was won by the Hayes family.
