Four of the top placings in the Holzhauser production awards, have gone to South Australia. The only other state to make the top five was Victoria.
J C Altmann & Sons (Blackwood Park Stud, Balhannah) took first and fifth spot, with fellow South Australians, Ian and Julie Mueller (Glenbrook, Murray Bridge) being placed third and Geoff Williams and family (Treeton Illawarras, Meningie) placing fourth.
Laurie and Sandra Chittick (Lemon Grove, Tongala) came in second.
The Holzhauser Award goes to the entrant whose ten cows have the highest combined total protein plus butterfat content. An award is also given to the entry showing the greatest improvement over the previous year’s average in combined total of protein plus butterfat. This year the winner is Terry and Ursula Tidcombe (Wallumlands, Shepparton) with J C Altmann & Sons coming in second.
Entries were received from 15 producers from across Australia with the 150 animals averaging 10763 litres of milk and 784kgs F+P.
