Welcome to the website of the Queensland Branch of the Illawarra Society of Australia.
Queensland breeders are spread between the Atherton Tablelands, Central Queensland, Wide Bay Burnett, the Darling Downs and South East Queensland. The distance separating them offers a diverse range of farming and shows the environmental challenges breeders face.
In the last few years the reputation of the Illawarra breed has intensified domestically and internationally. Demand for Illawarra sires on the international market and for Illawarra maternal lines has hastened buyer activity.
Queensland breeders have responded by actively promoting their cattle. Coupled with their can-do attitude, this is the most compelling state to access Illawarra genetics in.
The Queensland Branch of the Illawarra Cattle Society of Australia convenes every four months. In between, the sub-branches work collectively to promote and develop the breed in their respective regions.
