Congratulations to JC Altmann & Sons (Blackwood Park, SA) on taking out the Holzhauser competition for 2010.

The Holzhauser competition involves the nomination of ten cows with the highest combined total protein and butterfat content.  Altmann’s top ten averaged 12167 litres of milk for 877.9 kgs of fat plus protein with their second team placing fifth.  Second place went to another South Australian farming family, GP, RC & H Williams (Treeton Illawarras) whose top ten averaged 11148 litres for 838.9 kgs.  RN & RM Newton (Ovensdale, Victoria) came in third with 11764 litres of milk at an average of 813.5 kgs of fat plus protein. Victoria’s C R Chittick (Lemon Grove) was fourth with 11,187 litres and 799.9kgs.
